The Mung Beans

Things are starting to get a little easier for us. A big part thanks to Kisha’s mom staying over helping us and also her teaching me the grandma shuffle. Which is a little dance that helps calm Lily. Also we picked an exercise ball that we use to bounce Lily on when she needs some serious soothing. Thanks goes to Carrie Contley on that one.

So back to the title. Lily is now 12 days old and she has yet to poop unassisted. We’ve had 2 enemas and one baby glycerin suppository poop so far so she’s not going to die from poop overload but we want to see her squeeze one out on her own soon. Right now, we only have lots and lots of toots. We are doing some baby massages and also giving her probiotics so our fingers are crossed for some poops lightning.

My dad is a engineer in work and in life so he likes to have some sort of safety system in place whether it be for a steel building or for taking a nap with a newborn.

It’s been a long week, but its been amazing. Lily has totally shaken our world to the foundation and we’ve loved it. My dad and sister came and stayed with us over the Memorial Day weekend and its was great. It gave us some time to catch up on sleep and my sister was a saint helping with diapers, laundry and everything else. She is definite Aunt #1!

Things are starting to move a little smoother for Lily. She’s becoming quite good at breast feeding after we fixed her tongue tied issue (yes, its a real condition) and she is starting to get some better sleep. She’s also taking care of her bodily functions as we’d expect so thats great. I’m amazed at how happy I get seeing a poopy diaper, well at least for now.

Sleep has been pretty scarce lately, we’ve had a little trouble eating which has led to a very cranky baby but due to some exceptional help from our doula and midwife things are starting to head in the right direction. I cannot really explain how extraordinary it has they have been and how happy we are that we did the birth the way we wanted it.

Fortunately, Lily has started getting a little more sleep and she is just freakin adorable when she does.

You know your a dad when…you are giving your 2 day old baby an enema and you have to duck the shooting water and flying meconium! Lily is doing great still but she’s hasn’t been pooping much so our midwife wanted me to give her an enema to help get things moving and wow it really did. I just can’t wait till she is a teenager and I can tell all her friends about how I had to give her an enema.

Of course I’m not going to be mean and not post some new pictures of Lily.

We got her baby hammock in direct from New Zealand today so we set it up really fast using the door clamp. It looks great and is really well constructed. It is made of organic cloth and is hand dyed with clay dyes.

Lily had her first grand parent visit today. She loved it! It was really nice having some extra people around to help out. I was able to sneak out to a thousand different stores running little errands and Kisha and Lily were able to get taken care of and loved on.

This is what happens to a sweet happy little Lily Pad when she need to make a man sized belch.

Kisha went into labor at around 9pm last night and Lillian was delivered today at approximately 2:30pm.
